Users of some sound cards and laptops without sufficient power in sound card "mic" port will require the APS-100. This provides a small voltage to drive the pre-amplifier for the microphone element. This device requires 2 AAA batteries and typically lasts a 2-3 month per battery set. This is sometimes needed with the Sennheiser ME3 if you are using it with an otherwise compatible sound card, and also with the Andrea ANC microphones.

I inherited a headset to use with my cell phone. It needed power for the mic so I found the APS-100 was what I needed and purchased it from the Speech Recognition Solutions online catalog. There was an instant improvement in the headset that I use for my professional work. The product was new and shipping was very fast. Very pleased with the entire transaction.
